Workflow Approver Substitution

Former Member

In SRM system , when the approver is going on vacation , he can set substitute approver for the specified time period. Questions are

1) whether this substitution can be done by workflow administrator .

2) what is the difference between active substitution and passive substitution .

Request comments from the experts having experience with this Scenario.

Mani

1) in general , the user in question can maintain a substitute.

If Manager1 is going on vacation , he has to maintain the other manager as substitute before going on leave.

and also it is possible for administrator to forward any relevant workitems to any suitable approver.

2) Passive substitute --> is not considered , it is dummy and workitem will not be send to him.

Active substitue ---> is considered and the workflow will send workitem to this substitute.

-- whether the substitution can be done by the workflow administrator since Managers need to go on unplanned travel.....
