Could anybody explain the following

1. What does Functional Specs contains for MDM?

2. What does Technical Specs contains for MDM ?

3. What are the people involved in the project? For example Legacy->MDM->ERP

IN MDM:

according to the client's business process:

1. We have to design the Data model. In data model how best we can design the Taxonomy, and search process, Qualified tables. These all the things done by functional people ( suppose your Master data is Material master, products, vendors, customers.)

for produts or materials we will go for E-catalog.

customer's -- busioness scenario is Customer data integration.

2. Technical:

From R/3: we will create IDOC's . MDM will not understand IDOC messages, XI will convert these IDOC messages to XML messages, these XML messages we will load to MDM Server using Import manager.

Legacay: from legacy systems data may be in Excel/MS Access, flat file, etc., these data types directly through IM we can load.

3. After importing, we will do cleansing, deduplication, and we will process the data.

4. if we want to show our master data to NON-Sap system we will use WEB services, for SAP systems we will use OCI ( open catalog interface).

Here technical people will involve: EP, Java, ABAP.

MDM Functional Consultant,MDM Technical Consultant,MDM Developer.Iam confused by the responsibilities of these three.

Hi Anil,

I would like to add some bit of information.

MDM Functional Consultant is a person who understands the landscape.The Exact Business Requirement. The Data Profiling and Data Modelling is done by that person.

Where as MDM Technical Consultant basically focuses on and is an expert in the 4 GUI s of MDM ( Console, Import Manager, Data Manager and Syndicator).

And as far as MDM is concerned, there is no Coding involved in it. So as per my perceptive an MDM Developer and MDM Technical Consultant are one and the same.

People involved are both Functional & Technical.

In Technical: Required MDM, XI (PI), BI, ABAP, EP

In Functional: Generally more from client side All Functional Team is required depending upon the master data.

If it is material : Requires MM Functional.

Customer & Vendor (Supplier) , FI etc.

Answer for third question: That depend on, What are different

Softwares available at their clients place. (Mainly to extract the master data from their diff. sources)
