Hi,
We have ECC 6.0 with MS SQL server, In our SAP landscape we have Production, Development, Quality and Solution Manager.
Our Production system is on cluster and database are stored on SAN.
We are regularly taking backup of all the system and backup includes, OS, Application, database and system state backup.
In our backup we are taking two types of backup File level and database backup.
Assume that due to some reason any of the system is not available and want to restore it from the backup then how do we restore in min time?
Below are few queries for the same.
1. Is it possible to restore SAP application from the file level backup?
2. In case if we are able to restore it from the file level backup then do we require similar hardware configuration or we can restore on any system?
Regards,
Jigar Panchal.
Hi Jigar,
1. Is it possible to restore SAP application from the file level backup?
Yes! it is possible provided the database is offline otherwise the database will be inconsistence state.
2. In case if we are able to restore it from the file level backup then do we require similar hardware configuration or we can restore on any system?
If you are performing full restore on another hardware then the hardware & OS configuration should be similar and dont forget to install SAP license as the hardware key will be changed as a result of hardware change.
Hope this will help.

For restoring SAP application, do we require usr\sap folder
or any other data?

Over here after restoring the application and database we have to apply Solution Manager license key?
