Custom Web Dynpro UI elements

Dear guru,

is it possible to develop custom UI elements? We need to develop dropdown listbox with multiple item choice (selection) but no one like something found in UI component palette.

Custom UI elements are not supported. For multi-selection you can use ItemListBox or CheckBoxGroup.

Again I am amazing. I think SAP took in mind something like JFC architecture when have been designed Web Dynpro component model. JFC allows extending a component. I can conclude that SAP designed component model with fixed set of components. This is big trouble. What will we expect in future? Will SAP change Web Dynpro design to allow extending components?

We have to distinguish between WD components and WD UI elements. You can create any WD component you need but you cannot create new WD UI elements.

I am also interesting in creating custom WD UI Elements. It would be great to know the way WebDynpro changes.

Are there plans to add such functionality into WebDynpro for NW 7.1?
