Use of HL7 files with XI

Hi there,

I want to know if there is a way to interconnect HL7 messaging systems with XI and how to achieve that.

A third party will ftp some files to our XI box and XI will take them (NFS), transform into IDOC and post them in SAP.

I would like to know if the use of Conversion Agent is mandatory or the transformations can be done in Message Mapping as usual?

Is there any specific XI adapter to work with?

Could you please explain how you would elaborate this scenario?

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

David

Hi Stefan,

Thank you for the link, it seems very interesting.

However i have some doubts so far:

- differences between CHN and CA

- list of adapters that we can use

- once we have the HL7 file in XI File System, Can we map its content without using CHN or CA or...?

Could you please help?

Thanks in advance and kind regards,

david

When you have an HL7 v3.x Message, which is based on XML, you can of course create your own mapping. But if you have HL7 v2.x which is a flat structure, you need some effort for the mapping with Java code or use the CA.

Hi Jaun ,

You can use Conversion agent as it provides standard parser for parsing HL7 documents. Remember to install the HL7 library while installing conversion agent.
