How to separate the enqueue server from CI

Former Member

Hi Friends,

We are going to upgrade SAP R/3 4.6C to ECC 6.0 in a HA environment. However, in the 4.6C HA solution there is no standalone enqueue server and enqueue replication server like in the ECC6.0 HA solution.

So my question is how to separate the enqueue server from CI after upgrade from 4.6C to ECC6.0 and make it replicate with the enqueue replication server? Thanks.

Hi Chen

Welcome to SDN

Not an expert on the subject but I think you can install the standalone enque server and the replication server after the upgrade of your 4.6C system as you'll do with an ECC6 system

Thanks Juan.

Normally, a classical central instance with the enqueue work process is installed (no standalone enqueue server) like in the 4.6C HA solution.

In the ECC6.0 HA installation there is a selection for install ASCS and SCS which contains the enqueue server. And if I am performing a band new HA installation of ECC6.0, I can get the standalone enqueue server, this issue will not be occur. However, now I am doing the upgrade. There is no ASCS and SCS after I upgrade 4.6C to ECC6.0.

So how can I separate the enqueue process from the CI? I still did not find any documents on how to perform this.

Please help if you know the answer. Thanks.

Hi Chen

You did not tell us which HA solution you are using, normally a standalone enqueue server / replication is covered by a third party HA implementation, like MSCS, HP Service Guard or Oracle RAC.

I have done an installation with RAC so far, the docu is here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d2827bef-0c01-0010-75a3-f96aa47f...

I did not use sapinst to install the ASCS/ERS, i manually created the profiles and the directories needed. Check this thread as well for details on testing the replication:
