If one of the purpose of using XI is strictly for FTPing files across without any translation/mapping then how big of a file can be transported.

Also does it make sense to use XI solely for transporting files between internal or external servers.

Either u do mapping or not, it all depends on your hardware configuration.

All depends on the scenario, even in our client place we need to transfer data from Bank Ftp to our landscape FTP. We did File to File transfer.
