Replication of redo log files

Hello,

How can I make a replication of the directory where the redo log files are located? Does exist any program from Microsoft or SAP to do it? I tried it using DFS but I cannot avoid the deletion of a file of the source directory (where the redo log files are located) when its corresponding file of the target directory is deleted.

Thanks in advance,

Ricard.

Hi Oscar,

There a some way you can replicate the file.

If you mean the offline redo log file than you can use Oracle parameter to copy for second archive file to different destination

log_archive_destination_<n>

Please read Oracle documentation how to active it.

Hope answer you question.

Regards,

Fendi

Hello Fendi,

Thanks for your reply. I have had in mind this possibility, but will the database stops if the new target directory becomes unreachable?

Thanks in advance,

Ricard.

Hi Oscar,

Honestly I dont know the impact if the second destination full, but I am suspect it will get archive stuck.

The other way you can write a batch file or script to copy the archive file manually.

I also do the same for my DR where I write a script to copy the archive file than compress the file before I copy to DR server.
