Hi,
the text file is copied from desktop and place it in the XI Os level folder in the specied path and the given source file location path and source file name should be same as what is specified in sender communication channel. Then check if the Adapter status is Active in the sender file communication channel.
2) The file will be picked from source directory based on pollinterval specified in sender communication channel

Pawan,
files on a Desktop are normal files in a folder. There is a folder called Desktop under you usernames Documents and Settings. So just point your source directory parameter to this directory.
However, as mentioned, there must be a FTP server running on your PC (or, XI installed there and you'll access the files on a filesystem)

Hi
Its possible to pickup the file from your Desktop........Don't be surprise..
Just need to make small change in your FTP configuration.
You need to configure FTP server on your system
Refer --> configure FTP server http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300662
Installing Internet Information Services
Because FTP depends on Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), you must first make sure that IIS is installed. To install IIS and the FTP service, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Select Add/Remove Windows Components.
4. In the Windows Components Wizard, select Internet Information Services (IIS), then click Details.
5. Select Common Files, Documentation, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Server, and Internet Information Services Snap-In, and then click OK.
6. Click Next.
7. If you are prompted to configure Terminal Services, click Next.
8. If you are prompted for a path for a FTP root folder, type a suitable folder path. The default is C:\Inetpub\Ftproot. For additional security, an NTFS drive is preferred. Click OK to continue.
9. When you are prompted, insert the Windows 2000 CD or provide a path to the location of the files, and then click OK.
10. Click Finish.
In FTP configuration the Default directory will be always C:\Inetpub\Ftproot
The step no 8 in the above process it will inform you about giving the path details, here you have to provide your desktop path
C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Desktop
The FTP directroy will be your desktop and you could use it.
Thanks

Well if you've installed PI on your lokal PC or there is an ftp server running where it could be accessed via file adapter yes. Otherwise the standard won't let you access lokal machines usually.
