Installing the Java Add-In for an existing abap system

Hi, Currently we are Installing the Java Add-In for an existing abap system.

Following the steps (Installation guide):

1) We sucessfully installed the Central Services Instance (SCS)

2) We sucessfully Installed the Database Instamce Java Add-In

Our problem comes in the third step

3) Central Instance Java Add-In

When the system prompts me the SAP System Identification (Select the central instance of your local host).

I have a combo with two values: DVEBMGS00 of SAP System DEV and DVEBMGS00 of SAP System DEV

(The same value)

I chose anyone, and click next.

The system send me an Input error and says "Caught EKdException in Module call: single select return more than on row"

Any help is appreciated, and I will reward points if helpful.

Regards

Is this a second attempt to install ? If you had installed earlier check if the JAVA schema (default SAPSR3DB) is still existing in the table.

Hi

Is the issue solved?

If not solved,

Try stopping the Application and clean the Shared Mem (cleanipc <instance no.> remove).

move or delete all files of under TMP=\<TMPDIR>

and start fresh installation of Central Instance JAVA Add-in

Hi Eydar,

cleanipc works at the OS level if you are logged in as <sidadm> user. (Works on Unix, not sure on WinNT, no harm in trying). Other option would be to reboot the server.

After stopping the instance, type at OS level

cleanipc <instance no> to show the list

and then do 'cleanipc <instance no> remove' to remove.

Dont run this command when the instance is running.

See Note 17108 - Shared memory still present, startup fails

Try this work around :

In the SAPINST <dir> look for files control.xml and keydb.xml> Identify the line where its prompts for this value. Hardcode it with the 'SID' and restart the installation. Make sure you take a copy of the control.xml and keydb.xml.

Also check in services.msc if there are similar SAP services belonging to the same SID. (remote possiblity but with MS you never know). If found disable one of them

Thanks Shaji, I send you the files

Checking the sapinst.log file i found that there are the following instances....

INFO 2008-02-11 18:50:06

Found these instances:

sid: DEV, number: 00, name: DVEBMGS00, host: bsomtymx005

sid: DEV, number: 01, name: SCS01, host: bsomtymx005

sid: DEV, number: 00, name: DVEBMGS00, host: BSOMTYMX0

How can remove the wrong instance?

I followed an advice made for a sap consultant, and delete some profile files.

I had the following files

DEFAULT.1.PFL

DEFAULT.2.PFL

DEFAULT.BAK

DEFAULT.PFL

DEV_DVEMGS00_bsomtymx005

DEV_DVEMGS00_bsomtymx005.BAK

DEV_SCS01_bsomtymx005

START_DVEBMGS00_BSOMTYMX0

START_DVEBMGS00_bsomtymx005

START_SCS01_bsomtymx005

after to delete the files, I have the following files

DEFAULT.BAK

DEFAULT.PFL

DEV_DVEMGS00_bsomtymx005

DEV_SCS01_bsomtymx005

START_DVEBMGS00_bsomtymx005

START_SCS01_bsomtymx005

Then, I restarted the installation, and the sapinst allow me to continue with the installation.

I really do not know if the installation will be sucessful, but this issue is solved.

Thanks shanji, I was working in another tasks, but with your help, I will try to resolve again this problem, and found the solution.

Getting rid of duplicate profile names with different host suffixes fixed the issue for me as well. For instance I had two sets of BWP_DVEBMGS22_xxxxx and START_DVEBMGS22_xxxxx. The xxxx's stand for host name. Once I got rid of the false host name files (yyyyy for example), and restarted the installation it worked. The error/duplicate row went away. I had two different host name files because this system was a restore of another system.
