what is customizing & application data

Hi everyone,

I want to do a client copy. Im confused aobut which profile to choose while doing client copy. Can anyone explain what is application data and what is customizing data ? if possible with an example.

Hi,

Client Copy:

You have to check the client settings.Because for DEV system client settings are

client dependent settings: Automatic recording of changes

client independent settings:Changes to repository and cross client customizing allowed

For PRD system

client dependent settings: No changes allowed.

client independent settings:No Changes to repository and cross client customizing allowed

When you are doing remote client copy you should login to the target client.

Type scc9 in command field.

it will ask source client,select the specified profile depends on your requirement.

the SAP Standard:

the transaction SCC9 will do a remote (between two systems) client copy.

If you enter the transaction there is the parameter "Selected profile". With F4 you can see the different profiles you can use to copy a client.

SAP_UONL User Without Authorization Profiles and Roles

SAP_USER User Master Records and Authorization Profiles [/code]

I do a copy from prod to dev usually with the profile SAP_APPL.

pls chk the above,let me know if u want some more details.

customizing data & Application Data

You can see Customizing as a subset of application data.

Example of application data:

A company code, a currency table, the master data used, the transactions made with the application

Example of customizing:

The currency used in a company code, the current fiscal year etc

If i use SAP_CUST profile, what data is copied and what is deleted?

Hi,

For SAP_CUST : Client-dependent Customizing, including authorization profiles, are copied. The application data is deleted and the user data is retained.
