query on file-to-file scenario

Hi Gurus,

What are the pre-requisites in building a file-to-file scenario ,if we want to test it in my system where

SAP-XI is installed?Do we need FTP installed?What is the importance of FTP?

How it is linked with the directory we are using for sending and receiving files?

What is anonymous login and its usage with real time example?

Hi,

when you are trying to test the scenario from XI server you will be using the NFS protocol and not FTP. If you are using an FTP server, it is again a standalone server where you can either use a particular FTP user and password and restrict the access or you can use anonynomous.

Generally when you specify anonynomous login, it shows that there is no resttriction to login to FTP server. But still you have permission/authorization to read/write files from that directory.

Hi,

In Real time we use FTP if it has a separate file server and we give the logon details of taht server.

In genaral we will go NFS Network File Sharing when we post u r message in same network it will pick the file.

anonymous login means if u dont have usename and password u click anonymous login then it will coneect the file server,,
