Cutomer Classification??

Hello Experts,

Why do we need customer classification and what is meant by Characteristic of customer maintenance T.Code CT01 - Ct04. Can any body give me detailed explanation on this?

Customer classification -

is used to identify and maintaining the condition records whether the customer is taxable or not

Characteristics CT01 or CT04 --- is used in variant configuration settings to define the characteristics of the product and assing this characteristics to the values
