Hi Guys
What is the relevance of Delivery Item Category and how is it determined and what are the controls and assignments to be done in customising.
Thanks in advance
Srikkanth
Hi Srikkanth k,
Delivery Item Catg. controls delivery doc.type. It determines by assigning delivery iterm catg to delivery doc. type.
Path for the same is: IMG - Logistics execution - shipping - delivery - assign delivery doc. type to delivery item catg.
Note: Delivery item catg. is same item catg. which we use for sales doc.

Srkanthraj

Like sales item category, the delivery item category controls the item's behaviour at delivery level.
The formula is almost same like sales item item category exept the document type (Here it is delivery document type).
The Tr. code for delivery item category determination is 0184
to see the del. item cat, settings u can goto 0vlp
Hope it useful..

Hi Srikanth,
Go to trasaction OVLP , this is to define the delivery item categories.
1.You select any one of the itemcategory and go in to details screen of that item category ,there you can find the all control fields about delivery itemcategory.
2. go to transaction 0184 there you can find the detenmination of the delivery itemcategory.
Menupath is IMG -->Logistics execution >Shipping>Deliveries-->Define itemcaregories for deliveries , Define itemcategory determination uin deliveries.
I hope this will solve your problem.
Regards,
Murali.

Define Item Category Determination in Deliveries
In this menu option you define the item category determination for deliveries. The following applies:
If an order item or a schedule line is copied into a delivery, the item category is also copied.
For items independent of orders in the delivery (for example, packaging material that is entered in the delivery) or deliveries without reference to an order, the item category is determined by the SAP System by allocating the item category group to a delivery type.
The respective item category is determined depending on the following criteria:
Item category group of the material
Sales document type
For each item category, you allocate the allowed delivery types to the item category groups. On the other hand you can also allocate the item categories to the item category groups for each delivery type.
If you enter a material with a certain item category group (for example, standard item) in a delivery with a certain document type, the SAP System automatically finds the allowed item category by allocating the delivery type to the item category group.
Define the item category that is to be proposed automatically. You can also define the allowed item categories which you can then specify in the delivery by changing the default.
Note
The SAP System automatically determines the corresponding schedule line category using the item category of a delivery item independent of an order. The information in the schedule line category is necessary for the availability check as well as for quantity postings and value postings in materials management due to the goods movement.
Actions
To define the item category determination, proceed as follows, for example:
Select the delivery type to which you want to allocate item categories.
Then select one of the item category groups.
Specify all allowed item categories for the combination of delivery type and item category group.
If it is an item category that is to be proposed in the delivery, you have to characterize the combination of item category, item category group, and delivery type.
Alternatively, you can also make the allocation via the item categories.
REWARD POINTS IF HELPFUL

Rahul

The delivery item category controls how delivery items are handled and processed during the shipping process. The control elements available provide a high degree of automatic determination and checking.
Some of the important parameters, which are controlled are as under:
Relevant for Picking.
Check for Over Delivery
Picking Location determination
Availability Check.
Packing Control.
Automatic Batch Determination.
Customization setting for Item Category Determination:
IMG: Logistics Execution >> Shipping >> Deliveries >> Define item category determination in deliveries

Hi Shrikant
The delivery item category is one point where MM/PP integration with SD takes place and it would determine how the product is procured, produced or delivered to the customer directly.
It happens in copy control.
