A requirement class is maintained not determined. The scope of the av.check and TOR is based on the combination of requirement class and requirement type.

Under the requirement class you can check the various features, like av. check, requirements, product allocation, NO mrp etc.

Dear Toka,

Requirements type. Every requirements type is allocated to a requirements class with its corresponding control features

Strategy for Determining the Requirements Type

1. First, an attempt is made to find a requirements type using the strategy group in the material master.

2. If the strategy group has not been maintained, the system will determine it using the MRP group.

3. If the MRP group has not been defined, the system uses the material type instead of the MRP group when accessing the corresponding control tables.

4. If no requirements type is found here, the system assumes a special rule and attempts to find a requirements type with the aid of the item category and the MRP type.

5. If this is not possible, a last attempt is made to find a requirements type with the item category only.

6. If the last attempt fails, the system declares the transaction as not relevant for the availability check or transfer of requirements.

Requirement class is determined through requirement type and there are various options for requirement type determination like item category+MRP type and also the order of determination can also be set

Requirements Class

The requirements class contains all control features for planning such as relevance for planning, requirements planning strategy and requirements consumption strategy. In addition, it is specified at a global level whether an availability check is to take place for the material in the sales and distribution documents on the basis of the ATP quantity (ATP = available to promise) and whether requirements are to be passed on. A finer degree of control can be obtained for sales documents using the schedule line category.

Transfer of requirements can be performed if the following prerequisites have been met :

The control elements described above must be maintained in Customizing for Sales and the relevant assignments made to the sales transactions

The transfer of requirements must be switched on at requirements class level and, in the case of transfer of requirements in the sales documents, at schedule line level

A plant must be defined at document item level. This plant is either proposed from the material master record or you can enter it manually

A checking group must be defined in the material master record on the Sales/plant data screen in the Availability check field
