How to drop database instance if username/password is lost???

Could you please update with additional information::

• Do you have only one database instance installed on the server?

Please update with output of the following commands ::

dbmcli db_enum

dbmcli inst_enum

xinstinfo <SID>

sdbregview -l

< If you created the database using DBMGUI tool, please check that you are

able to connect to the database as dbm user, dbm password

May be you know SYSDBA user/password? >

• Are you SAP customer?

If you are SAP customer, please review the SAP notes: 599129 & 572836

Option: If you would like to uninstall all database software on the Windows server,

but you are not able to drop the database instance of the database software was

deleted manually.

=> You could delete all dependent & independent database software manually

&& apply the SAP note's 572836 solution after that.

mybe you can use the command line tools dbmstop and dbmdrop. That depends on your MaxDB server version.

dbmstop myDB

dbmdrop myDB

But be careful. There will be no further enquiry.

I have created databases from GUI tool. But, the username/password which I used while creating is not being accepted. Even the system administrator username/password is not being accepted.

The error is: -2 ERR_USRFAIL: User authentication failed

So, the scenario is as if I have lost my username/password.

Due to this MAXDB is not allowing me to uninstall the database studio as the database instances are not dropped.

• No, I am not SAP customer. Do I have access to the notes mentioned? If yes, then how to access?

Hello Vijay,

Please run :

d:/program_files/sdb/programs/databasestudio/utilities/pgm/dbmdrop MAXDB1

d:/program_files/sdb/programs/databasestudio/utilities/pgm/dbmdrop SAMPLE

< to drop the SAMPLE & MAXDB1 databases first >.

After that could you please start 'Installation Manager' from the all programs

-> MAXDB < by default >.

Click in 'Remove MAXDB components' -> run the 'uninstall'.

Thanks a ton. It worked.

In between I had created one more database named MAXDB2. So, now only this database is interrupting uninstalling DatabaseStudio.

-> If the MAXDB2 is offline, please check if you have the shared memory

files MAXDB2.dbm.shi & MAXDB2.dbm.shm in D:\MAXDB_DATA\wrk.

Please rename them to MAXDB2.dbm.shi.old & MAXDB2.dbm.shm.old,

try to drop the MAXDB2 after that with command

d:/program_files/sdb/programs/databasestudio/utilities/pgm/dbmdrop MAXDB2

Hello Vijay,

-> I wrote you last time:

"-> If the MAXDB2 is offline, please check if you have the shared memory

files MAXDB2.dbm.shi & MAXDB2.dbm.shm in D:\MAXDB_DATA\wrk.

Please rename them to MAXDB2.dbm.shi.old & MAXDB2.dbm.shm.old,

try to drop the MAXDB2 after that with command

d:/program_files/sdb/programs/databasestudio/utilities/pgm/dbmdrop MAXDB2"

And in your case the database is running.

"dbmcli db_enum

OK

Hi,

I would also like to drop databases where I have forgotten the user / password.

However I do not have the program: dbmdrop in the pgm directory

there is stop.exe and dbmstop.exe

and I have run these.

Can you help please. Thanks
