System Monitoring in SOLMAN

I would like to set up System monitoring functionality for satellite system in SOLMAN.

The following problems occurred:

1) Missing system entries in tcode RZ20

I miss the entries of the system e.g. Shortdumps Frequency, AbapErrorInUpdate, Shortdumps in tcode RZ20.

How will the system values added into the RZ20?

2) Missing database component of the system in System Monitoring set up

Usually the system has the following components in System Monitoring set up:

a) SAP Application Server

b) Server <servername>

c) Database <SID>-Database

For my system the Database component is missed.

i'v the same problem too.

Our SolMan monitored up to 25 satellits/ solutions. In most cases all things are well. In some cases, we have e.g. 4 systems in one solution. 3 works fine (DEV, QAS, BW), 1 works bad (PRD), either the database is missing (most) or the server ist missing.

We don't work with SLD, only with the Datasource "TMS/RFC"

SM59-rfc-destinations "read == tmw == login == trusted" works correct (test and also authorisation-test) and also the way back from satellit to the CEN (SolMan). SDCCN (in satellite) works also correct.

In DSWP ==> Operation Setup, i can define all the database parameters i wish to monitored. I see the green check mark. I see the correct environment in the satellite-system, when i try to change the watermark in the MTE in Operation Setup.

It may be accidentally, but the satellits with missing databases are "mssql-server with Windows OS"; the satellits with missing servers are "AIXwith DB6" ore "LINUX with Oracle".

Our Solman (CEN, Windows / MaxDB) has this level:

Hello Thom,

in your satellite system, in TA RZ21 make sure method CCMS_MC_UPDATE is executed as soon as

the monitoring segments starts.

RZ21 --> Method definitions --> Display Overview

Make sure "Execute method immediately after monitoring segment start" and "Only once per system" is selected for the method CCMS_MC_UPDATE. In case you change something, you have to reset the monitoring segment to "warmup status".

Is the Database declared in your SMSY settings for the system?

Please check the SMSY configuration for that system for the database declaration.

We in the SMSY have configured the database and we have assigned to the system.

If we go to "setup monitoring system" appears to us the component "Database SID-DATABASE" and all active alerts appear correctly, but when we agree to "Monitoring System / Administration" only appears to us the components:

did you solve problem with database point in system monitoring?

I have the same sympthoms as you have. Our SolMan release is 7.01 SPS21

I have this problem only for test and productive solutions. For development solution all works fine.

All recommendations about RZ21 and SMSY are met.

Please do check SLD data is maintained properly or not. Also tell me, are you using any system in SMSY directly or automatically it comes thru SLD Landscape Fetch job?

Thank you for reply.

SLDCHECK gives me only one alert: No business systems maintained in the SLD, but as I know it not influence on monitoring.

Into my sld quick link all technical systems exist.

I don't use landscape fetch job because after it has run I get <SID>_NABP definitions, that's why I maintain systems directly in SMSY.

Hi Thom!

Have you configured SOLMAN as CEN system?

Transaction RZ23N and CCMS Agent CCMSPING

After you have done this you will be able to see all the local RZ20 monitors of the Sat System, just entering in RZ20 of SOLMAN, activate Maintenance Function in "Extras" Menu and then create a new Z Monitor Set

In the new Monitor Set, you push Create Button for Monitor, and then you will be able to choose between all the MTEs of the Satellite Systems, and to incorporate on the new Monitor Set
