ECC Installation with Support Packages

Hi,

I am about to install ECC 6.40 Release on Solaris SPARC with ABAP stack.

What I am thinking of how about if I install a fresh ECC system and apply the latest support packages stack, and then perform an export using SAPinst (R3load).

This export can be used to rebuilt new ECC servers in my landscape and I can cut down on the time as I dont have to reapply the support packages stack again. Like this, I can install a fresh ECC server with the latest support packages stack.

Can I do that? I mean is it a safe bet?

Hi Adams,

This is a well known procedure. It saves time and effort.

As you mentioned, you don't have to repeat the support packages stack installation, further more, any post installation activity like additional language installation, specific county localization is done only once at the first system.
