query on display of capacity view in SNP planning book

Hi,

have a query on display of capacity view of SNP planning book.

The scenario is as below.

1. workcenter has capacity of 24hrs / day

2. the routing has setup time of 2 hrs and production time of 1 hr

3. PP/DS PPM was transferred from R/3 to APO

4. PP/DS PPM shows production time of 1 hour and setup time of 2 hours

5. SNP PPM was generated from PP/DS PPM

6. SNP PPM displays variable bucket consumption of 1 hr. and fixed bucket consumption of 2 hrs

7. forecast of 24units was entered for a particular day

8. SNP optimizer was executed

9. results of SNP optimizer was checked in the SNP planning book

10 . the system has created SNP planned orders for qty of 24units in a daily bucket

11. capacity view was checked

12. capacity view displays "available capacity :24 hrs", "resource consumption : 26 hrs" and resource utilization as 108%

The expectation was, resource utilization should not exceed more than 100 % (resource utilization maintained in resource master is 100% and the resource is finite resource)

and if the fixed bucket consumption is considered, then the qty produced should have been less than 24 units (say 22 units).

Can somebody help me in knowing is this a standard system behaviour and how can we get the proper results in SNP planning book (capacity view and quantity view)

v5.0 also allows the optimizer to consider the state of the resource prior to that time bucket...

Your active variant is 24/hrs per day?

What if you create a new empty planning version.

Create demand for 1 unit.

What is capacity consumption then?

Does it show 3 hours or 1 hour?

If I create the SNP planned order for 1 unit, the capacity consumption is 3hours..

that means, fixed bucket consumption is considered and thus diplaying the resource utilization of more than 100%

how can this be overcome..?

pl let me know.

Dear Ram,

Couple of points which I recall .

(a) Check the active variant being used in resource it should be normal capacity else you need to go to spro and update the same.

(b) Infact if you check the Result Log in the Optimiser Log IT_RESOURC you may see 100% utlisation of capacity and not 108%.

(c) Regarding the 24 units in 24 hours is fine as the Optimizer has not considered the set up time of 2 hours (guess you are using Linear Optimisation).

appreciate your immediate response.

you are excatly right. we are using linear optimizer and the optimizer log shows resource utilization of 100% and not 108%.

also, active variant is being used in the resource.

if this is the case, does it not give the wrong impression regarding resource utlization when we check the capacity view of the planning book..?

is there any way to get the correct display in the capacity view..? other wise, users wil definetely get confused..
