My connector status is green and the RFC call is also workign fine .

Now I want to know how do I configure the server and user

Can anyone give me more inforamtion how do I do that and where I can find out the ??? entries as shown below.

till now I have done these settings

SERVER SETTINGS:----

Host name ??

Port Number 389 (I think this is fine)

Product name ???

LDAP Application I think this will be USER in te case of geeting the user data.

Hello Ankur,

- the Host name ist the Full Qualified Domain Name or IP Adress of the LDAP Server you want connect to.

- Product name is the Vendor of the LDAP Server.

- Base entry is the Distinguished name which should be used as an entry point

- System Logon you can choose a User maintained in the System Users.

Do you know that there is a F1 Help behind every Field?

Hi Gregor.

Thanks for your reply.

Yaa i know there is a help on every field.

Well Actually I have configured this based on help and using my logic but I get an Error while trying to test the Logon as "LDAP server not active ".

And I wanted to make sure how do you find out that the configuration is right or rather what need to be entered in each field and where do i get that inforamtion

Eg BASE ENTRY : where do I find out what need to be entered here .

SYSTEM LOGON : this should be which user with what rights

Hope now you understand .

Thanks and Regards,

You might need to work with the LDAP/Active Directory admin at your site to come up with the right base. I found that to be a little tricky. If you think of LDAP as a hierarchy, the "base" is the point in the hierarchy at which you want to start searching.

Yours might look similar to this:

OU=Headquarters,OU=Corporate,DC=COMPANYNAME,DC=COM

It will depend on your LDAP implementation strategy.

"SYSTEM LOGON" is the user on your LDAP server that will fetch the data.

Hello Ankur,

I would suggest that you download SofterraTM LDAP Browser which is a free tool to browse an LDAP Server. This tool is very good for finding out the Base Entry. If your LDAP Server is also your Authentication Sever like Microsoft Active Directory is for your Windows Client then you can use your E-Mailadress and Password for the login. For the first start you need only read access.

Hello Ankur,

is your Client in the same network as the SAP Server? Perhaps it is a firewall problem.
