Hi ~
I'm new to BASIS and I would like to know what are the daily operations for a BASIS admin. Also, could you provide me with a list of T-Codes and maybe a brief description of what each of them do?
Thanks in advance,
Denny.
Execution of SAP transports
Management of security & authorizations
SAP interfaces intermediate management
Definition of printers at the SAP level
Database management intermediate knowledge
SAP software upgrades
Configuration of system parameters
Execution of archiving activities
Execution/definition of brand new SAP installations
Execution of SAP Migrations
Analysis of operating systems / hardware
Tuning of system parameters
Full administration of large SAP installations
Add and maintain profiles
SAP Online support Service (OSS) administration
Troubleshooting and Support to SAP End User
When you log on in the SAP, click in the menu Extras -> Settings -> Display Technical Names
You could see the T-Code in the SAP Easy Access Menu.
To know what T-Code do, you could only select the option in the SAP Easy Access Menu and press F1, you will find the information that you required.
Regards and Reward points if helpful.

Hi,
So as SAP Basis admin, as the others there talked about, but there are two simple transactions all forget about: ST22 (short dump analysis) and SM21 (SAP Sytem Log). For start I think it's enougth to see if the system is working (and an other essential transaction is SICK and if it that reports any errors we definetly here from you),
Regards,
Daniel
Hi,
I'm surprised because nobody speaks about projects.
80% of my daily work is work on projects :
Find the technical solutions for the new necessary functionalities
Implement these solutions on the dev and quality systems
Create the necessary technical documentation
Write down the technical procedures to be applied on the production systems
Find the project impact on volumetry, performance, system load
Eventually, buy the new necessary hardware
Support the developpers.
...

Olivier

Hi,
There is no generic answer as there are a lot of different jobs for Basis guys depending completely from the company organization.
