SLD & ESR

As mentioned in my blog, I am posting a set of questions on ESR in this forum as an interesting way of sharing relevant information with the community. In the true spirit of forums, the one who answers the question is rewarded!

Q - Why is the SLD important to ESR? How is the connection between ESR and SLD configured in the latest (CE SP3) release of ESR?

Hi:

You can access from the manual configuration and try to find the correct parameters you need to modify:

The same configuration made by the ESR configuration scenario could be reproduced manually through the java system properties

Once the java system properties are changed and saved you should restart the application com.sap.xi.repository only and the changes will be applied.

Hi,

SLD is important because it contains the information about your systems, Software components etc.

While designing/modeling or importing Models/Definitions provided by SAP, they are bundled as Software Components. So while using , you can import the required Software Components from SLD and view the definitions. It contains the predefined models provided by SAP and also you can create and store your new models/definitions under your custom Software Components and access it globally through SLD.

Hi,

SLD is configured from the home page NWA-> Configuration Management -> Scenarios -> Configuration Wizard -> Execute the SLD step.

And then the connection of the SLD to ESR is done thru the ESR setup wizard choosing the option remote SLD or Local SLD and then completing the Wizard.

Hi,

We executed the ESR configuration by selecting the ESR configuration profile in ConfigTool. But due to some error the configuration task failed and as a result the ESR-SLD linkage was not configured properly. Now we have the local SLD of NW CE SP03 up and running. How can we configure that for the ESR so that ESR can access the local SLD for importing the SWCV?

In the Configuration Wizard in NWA we see the the configuration task "Configuration of ESR in CE" is showing the status Incompletely Executed. But the Start, Resume and Re-execute buttons are all disabled. So how can we correct the SLD configuration?
