In our SAP system there are a few custom developed tables (for Ex. ZPLT_MATGRP). My questions are
1. What would have been the reason to develop these tables?.
2. How do you create/develop these tables?. Can you pls provide me the detailed procedure to create these custom fields?.
3. Who maitains these fields in a table?.
4. How the data maintained in these tables are checked by the system. How the system will know that it has to check these tables while creating a sales order?. Where do you make these customization?

A1: SAP does not offer anything that meets the business requirements, developer avoided use of classification.
A2. This is done in SE11 (one should have basis Abap knowledge to do it)
A3. either SAP functional consultants like customizing tables, or (key-) users if table is designed as master data table
A4. Checked and copied values with user exits.
