Can we hide Charactristics of Config material by using the value of another characteristcs?.

For Ex:

Char X has Value a,b.

Char Y has Value x,y.

Now , If we select value "a "of char X, then Char Y must not appear.

if we select value "b" of Char X then Char Y must be appear.

Ur requirement it possible thro the SAP provided dependencies.

I think ur requirement is acheived thro the precondition.

Method:

Assign the precondition to the characteristic called Y.

2nd requirement is satisfied by " selection condition"
