hello everybody:

Can anyone tell me how to add support packages into SAP. It would be grateful if SAP transaction manual can be provided.

I am a functional consultant, just interested in how it works.

Helpful answer will be rewarded points for sure.

Hi,

To use SPAM you need first to enter in English with the correct authorization to use this transaction.

Once you have downloaded the package from service.sap.com you have to load it using support_package/load packages from the menu, then you choose where are you going to load it from.

After this last step, you go and select new support packages, then visualize and you will find the packages you loaded, every package has some prerequisites that must be filled, notes that must be read and some of them needs passwords found in the notes they refferd.

If everything is OK, then you can use right mouse to add to queue and after this, you can launch the import queue (the truck) and the process begans and finish after a while. If everything went fine you will have to confirm everything using the icon with the pencil and the checkmark.

Hope this helps

1) Check what support package you need to download.

For this step, you can log on in your server with the client 000, use the transaction SPAM.

In the screen, select All Support Packages and later click display bottom

Find the last support package installed.

2) Open a Internet browser and type https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/swdc

Here you need to find the component, check the support packages that you do not have and get it.

3) Copy the support packages ( .sar and .car files) to the directory \usr\sap\trans

4) Open command window (ms-dos) and change to the directory \usr\sap\trans

Type the commands sapcar

The syntax is:

sapcar -xvf Name_of_the_support_package

5) In the Support Package Manager (SPAM), follow in the menu: Support Package->Load Packages->From Application Server

A message appears, click YES to upload the packages.

A new window with appears with the result of the uploading, click back.

6) Click the Display/Define bottom

Choose the component you want to install and click ok

7) In the menu: Support Package-> Import queue

Follow the instructions

If the process ask you a password, you will need to find in the market place (Search Notes) the Note to update the component.

😎 Finally, Confirm the update.

Regards.
