3rd Party Backup Tools for MaxDB 7.6 on Windows 2003 x64

Hi everyone,

I would like to hear what 3rd party backup tools (eg Data Protector, TSM, Backup Exec, Networker ... etc...) are people using for backing up their MaxDB databases. Ideally for Windows based installations.

I would also like to know the pros/cons of the tool you are using.

And I would love to hear from anyone that is doing backups of MaxDB using tools such as Avamar or Asigra (Disk to Disk electronic vaulting type solutions).

Is anyone doing backups of MaxDB to disk with sometype of compression?

Cheers

Shaun

We use Networker for our MaxDB instances on various platforms - including Windows. We are pretty happy with it because it uses a pipe approach and not a separate backint interface.

We plan to use the virtual tape library feature of Networker to backup this year but we haven´t started yet.

We do always full backups with a total of ~ 6 TB each night onto two LTO2 tapes.

Hi Markus,

we are using MAXDB 7.6 on windows as content server and would like to user networker for full online tape backup.

I appriciate if you provide the detailed approach for the same, as out networker partner says this product is not available.

Please help.
