SapSprint not getting installed in Windows Vista

Hi All,

We have SAP Front End installed in Windows Vista. We removed Saplpd.exe from the Vista machine & tried to install sapSprint (xsprint.exe). But we get the following error during installation & installation is halted:

"SAP Front-End setup has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program & notify you if a solution is availabe"

If anybody knows how to install sapSprint in Vista machine please let me know.

We installed then SAPSprint for evaluation reasons (testing period before general VISTA Roll out) on a single machine and it was easy and worked well and did not cause any problems so far.

We had not, although, deleted the saplpd-directory, as is recommended in OSS#894444, but just renamed it (so we can turn back if we wish).

However, one issue occured which needs extra care: SAPSprint works only for access methods S and U. All others must be taken care of with other means.

What version of Vista are your runing? Home (and home Premium) can´t run SAPGUI according to my knowledge...

Mine is Vista Enterprise edition.

And this error (Internet Explorer 6) does appear of Vista? Is this a Windows XP upgraded system or freshly installed? If the latter I´d open an OSS call and let the people investigate, what´s wrong with your system (BC-FES-INS).

SAPSprint was developed as replacement for SAPLpd on the SERVER.

894444 - Tool for server-based printing on Windows (SAPSprint)


SAPSprint replaces the SAPLPD's server functions. Use the new method described in Note 821519 for front-end printing. Do not install SAPSprint on every workstation.

Please check note 821519 to print on Vista.

Here the OS type is not recognized by the application. (It is Win Vista OS). In other OS like XP & 2K it is able to identify. Is SapSprint not compatible with Vista OS?

I think your machine is somewhat hosed.

The system detects an Internet Explorer 6.0 - which doesn´t run on Vista (only 7.0 supported)...
