Changing role from Technology consultant to Development consultant

Hi Gurus,

I'm XI technology consultant and I've been working in this field for past 1 year now I'm planning to change the role from Administration to Development.

1. How difficult/easy it is?

2. Anyone does this before?

3. Is it possible to utilize both skills in a project? If yes then how?

4. Any benefits in doing this? (in terms of Job Opportunity, Salary)

5. Any other comments

I have little knowledge of ABAP and few XI scenarios.

HI,

1. How difficult/easy it is?

A) It is not difficult as u have a experience in XI BASIS part. In Develoopment there are two things which you need to do.

1) Integration directory:

Which is the design where u wil design ur interface. Which has step by step process.

just search on SDN for different scenarios.

2) Integration Directory:

it is configuration part which has all the adapters so depening upon the scenarios u ahve to the specific adapters.

2. Anyone does this before?

A) may be many people has done.

3. Is it possible to utilize both skills in a project? If yes then how?

yes it will be advantage for u as many project require to create SLD,BS,TS,roles,transport but ususally in project these activities are carried by BASIS people.

4. Any benefits in doing this? (in terms of Job Opportunity, Salary)

Thats depends upon the company requirements.

5. Any other comments.

Just search on SDN as there are many blogs which helps in understanding the different scenarios.
