Launch SAPGUI from URL (no SAP portal)

Hello,

Access to our SAP backend systems is available through SAP Logon Ticket Only. Passwords are deactivated.

Typically, users get to SAPGUI on these backends using our SAP Portal (iview that invokes transaction)

Several users would like to get to SAPGUI without using the portal. These users would be using a web browser which obtained the SAP Logon Ticket without utilizing the portal.

Here is my question:

Is there a way to launch the SAPGUI from a web browser (the SAP Logon Ticket exists on the browser and is not a concern). Basically, I would like to launch Win GUI using javascript in the same way as the SAP Portal.

Thank you,

Kevin Haller

what we do is to give our users a direct url to the iview that launch sapgui (portal is used but not showed)

how to construct such an url is explained here : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/cd/1aad4abcb98c4597f9e395a6b62f43/content.htm

We use the My Systems component of Portals. It has Alt-Click a link to copy the system shortcut to your windows clipboard enabled. Simply have users do that then create new shortcut and paste in result. it looks something like this:

Thank you for that information.

Do you know where I can find more information about "My Systems" in the Portal?

I tried to mock up the URL with my company specifics, and I get an error indicating that iView is not found. Further, I tried to find SAPGUI Launcher iView, and I don't see it anywhere on my system. Does SAPGUI Launcher need to be installed first? What version of NW are you on?

Thanks
