I am new to SAP XI technology and I want to know some more details about this field. I also want to know about the scope of thsi field.

First of all you have two questions ,let me explain that
1) I want to know some more details about this field.?
These field is called middle ware owned by SAP labs
it falls under SAP-NetWeaver which has many components like
a)People Integration.
b)Infrormation integration.
c)Process Integration.
d)Application Platform
SAP-XI falls under the Process Integration of the SAP-Netweaver Stack.The goal of the SAP-XI is to provide a single point of integration for all the systems SAP &NON-SAP
2)I also want to know about the scope of thsi field.?

the scope of XI is very good in market.its a hot skill in the market.but xi was not a matured product compared to other middleware toll like TIBKO, Message Broker MQ,biz talk.....
but the new version 7.1 will make a lots of differences.

Process integration layer in Netweaver Stack.
Prospects are good as it is noew/emerging tecnology.
Current version is XI 7.0 and 7.1 ia awaiting its release .
