Hello,
I am new to MDM . Would appreciate if someone can give a solution to the below request.
We are doing a demo project in our Company to extract all the master data related to SALES cycle. We are doing an extraction of Customer Master Data. Currently we have the unlicensed version of MDM and very soon we will get the licensed version.
We have the Customer Master Repository created in MDM Console. The IDOC type we are using is DEBMDM05.
Is there a easy way to map the fields of IDOC to the MDM Repository. Right now we are doing a manual process of comparing the IDOC fields and MDM Repo in an excel but this is tedious and time consuming.
Can anyone suggest an easier way to identify so that we know which fields match correctly.
Thanks
Leena
Hi Leena,
For this demo, SAP have provided a standard business content. Wherein you have repository model, Import maps and export maps for CUSTOMER, VENDOR, BUSINESS PARTNER, PRODUCT, EMPLOYEE and MATERIAL.
If Standard reopository meet your objective then you can automate the process by using standard Import maps.
Even you can create your own repository in which case you have to do mapping mannually first time then you can automate import process.
I will appreciate if you can share your practical experience for this scenario.

Heii Leena,
In this case you have to use Standerard business contents which are being provided by SAP.As per for CUSTOMER , EMPLOYEE and for other MASTER DATA OBJECTS.
in this you will have files like Import maps, export maps,Xsd
etc.
By the activation of these contents you can map the fields from R/3 to MDM through XI.
Hope this help. Please reward if you find it useful.

Hi Leena,
First of all you have 2 options to generate IDOCs from SAP R/3 system
1.mdmgx>one IDoc per record
2.mdm_clnt_extr>for generating single IDoc having entire set of records.
Secondly,if you want to get the data mapped automatically, you should use standard maps provided by SAP(Business Content).
If at all you have created new fields then you should manually map those fields.
If any other queries pl ask
Reward points if found useful

Hi Leena,
Use MDM Generic Extractor.
SAP has provided standard content on market place to Integrate CRM sytem to MDm using XI. XI scenario is provided in a TPZ file.
On the other hand the method you are following is the only possibilty(to map manually).
rewards if helpful.
