Hi experts,

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between a Dialog user and a Service user.?

basing on which ratioanlity we will create some as service users and some as dialog users.

What are the Pros and cons if I change a Service user to a Dialog user and vice versa.

I would appreciate if some one could explain me clearly on this.

Best Regards,

Sairam.

Hi

In SU01 transaction, under LOGON DATA tab,you need to select the USER TYPE as "SERVICE".

user type = service.

auth profile, either sapall for testing, then you can create a more restrictive one with the admin._

Take help of BASIS person in this case.

Please go through the links below ->

Do let me know.

Hi,

With dialog user,it is possible to debug the RFC calls between the systems.

Also for the search help functionality in SRM,you need to use dialog users.

See these notes:

642202 - EBP user admin: RFC user profile in back end/plug-in

656633 - Search help requires dialog users

Hi,

a dialog user can be used by a single person for all types of logon; the multiple logon are checked and eventually registered.

A service user is like a dialog user for wich is possible an anonimus multiple logon via ITS service or a WEB browser. Therefore it is advisable to give it a limited authorization. For example it can be used for accessing the system from a web browser even at people that doesn't have a personal user for logon the system.

Hope this helpful.
