Hi,

We have ERP 2005/Oracle 10G systems. When we upgraded, we applied all the latest pacthes. Now our system is in production. We see new patches coming thorugh SAP Hot News notes. Some of the problems we don't have and some of the problems we dont observe. For example oss#1109753(

wrong result set due to Table Prefetch), we dont know whether we have the problem or not. If we apply the patch(or parameter chnage),it might break something that is working fine already and might create some pefromance problem. Please advise whether anybody has any strategy about applying patches announced as Hot News. Thanks.

Thanks.

Raj.

Hi,

Hot News "Notes" should be applied ASAP (for that reason it is HOT News)

usually they refer to issues related with corruptions and/or wrong data. This issues can have a big impact on your system.

Nevertheless, you should check if the note "applies" to your system. If it refers (for example) to ASSM and you do not use it or to STAR_TRANSFORMATION and you do not use it, then they are not so Urgent.

In case of doubts, I would apply it.

Raj,

Any changes to SAP systems, DB/OS/Application related has to be done in Playpen/Sandpit enviroment first (if available), well tested, then in Development and Test enviroments, before you apply the change into Production. As Fidel pointed out, make sure that the fixes / patches apply to your setup.

Cheers,
