Copying a SAP R3 image from a running VM and placing it into a NEW machine

Hi Experts

This is my first time inputing a R3 image into a new machine please help me.

1. What do i have to do if i wish to change the hostname?

2. Will the liceance Key be a problem when i place the image into the new machine?

The last time I did this using the VMWARE tools I did have to apply for a new hardware key.

Hi Wee,

1. Changing the host name is easy, just make changes in /etc/host file and SAP's default ,instance profiles(in /usr/sap/<SID>/...../profiles).

2. Changing in host name won't ask for new key but you are changing hard ware it will diffinitely ask for license key?
