SAP 4.7 Installation Error - PLEASE HELP.

Former Member
0 Kudos

Hi Gurus,

I have installed 4.7 on my laptop having XP OS and oracle database.

The installation was successful and I got the final confirmation window also saying that " SAP Installation successful" and immediately after that I opened sap MMC and saw that the instance was up and all the work processes were in WAIT state. Then I stopped the instance and installed sap gui and again restarted the instance, but the instance did not come up and all the work processes died.

I have attached the developers trace for one of the work process:

Hi,

the problem seems to be with your Oracle - database.

Logon to your OS using <sid>adm user.

open command prompt and execute "brtools utility" by typing brtools and press enter.

Go to instance management and select the option Instance status and press C to continue and check the database instance status. It should be OPEN for valid operations and application connections.

Also make sure the environment variable are set properly for <sid>adm user.

Prem

Hi kaul,

I would like to know about the prerequisities you have made fpr the 4.7 version ,have you done all the prerequisites?

1.OS Support pack - If it is Windows 2003 -SP1

2.Memory Settings- Cache memory 3/4 size of your Ram

3.The :usr\sap\ installation drive should be having ample space 100gb needed for 4.7 IDES

4.Disable the Noetwork connection and install Microsoft Loopback Adapter and give the IP parameters

5.Install Oracle and after that install oracle patch set (while doing this u have to stop hte running Oracle instance using services.msc)

6.then u have to install the kernel 4.7 as central instance installation

7.after the completion of CI installation start the Database Installation

8.Goto to the folder C:programfiles/Sap/sapinst/ copy the files in the inst and paste it in hte Sap folder and strat clicking the sapinst.exe

try with this XP check the latest SP level my sugesstion is to install windows 2003 sp1 u can use dual boot OS: and use 2003 for SAP

regards,

S.Rajeshkumar

Reward points welcome!

Kaul,

The work processes failing is usually a sign that something else is wrong before things got started. From what I can see in the wp trace, the dispatcher is not healthy yet. Can you provide the dev_disp log from the work directory? That should let us know what occured during the startup with the dispatcher.

Thanks - there may be a lot of garbage in here so if you can stop the system (just R3), delete everything in the 'work' directory (/usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<NR>/work) and then try to start the system again.

You may want to reboot your system before attempting to do this so you can make sure all the memory is cleaned-up as the start probably left a lot of memory in a questionable state (I only recommend the re-boot to clear-up memory if it is something like a laptop install).

Hi Experts,

I have again repeated the installation...and the same result.

After the completion of the installation all the work processes are in healthy state and are in WAIT mode. Then I stop the instance, install sapgui and reboot the system. Now the dispatcher is not comming up because all the work processes have died.

The dev trace of work process immediately after installation:

HI ,

Sandeep

u have to do 2 things

1)go to services.msc, choose sap<sid>_<nr> and saposcol ,goto the properties for both services, then choose logon tab, over there check the username and password ( 2nd option--."for this account" should be choosen)

2)just copy and past all the environment variable for user to here , so we can check if anyone is missing for database, i will send missing

then it should start, i had same prob and i solved in this way ,now it work very well

if this will help reward point

Hi,

two quick ways to fix the connection to the oracle DB. Run oradbusr.sql script which will initialise the OPS$ mechanism.

As it's a laptop could also change the oracle SYSTEM user password to 'manager'.

cheers

looks, DB couldn't be connected to. Did you install Oracle / SAP instance as a different user than the user who is logged in when you got the error? Make sure that the Database is up and running. You could also try connecting to the database through SQL also.
