Hi Anirudh,

If you are going for single host installation and with TREX 7.0.You require atleast at least 1 GB disk space for TREX directory. You also need disk space in this directory for the trace files that TREX writes during routine operation.

for index directory, minimum 80 GB is required. If documents exist in different formats (Microsoft Word, PDF,and so on), the index needs approximately half as much disk space as the documents. For pure HTML documents, the index needs about twice as much disk space as the documents.

so if you are having 300 gb data and all are HTML then it should require 300*2 = 600GB and for optimization also you need to have some more disk space.

For Queue directory,The queues require approximately three quarters of the disk space required by the indexes. These three directories can be located on different partitions.

RAM-

Demo or test system: At least 2 GB

Production system: 8 GB, at least 4 GB per CPU

With two index servers per TREX instance: At least 4 CPUs

The amount of main memory and disk space is actually used depends on several factors. so you should be very careful while going for sizing as well you can use sizing tool also

Thanks,

Sumit

Hi,

We are looking to install TREX and I'm searching for formation on the TREX sizing. The quicksizer is only for:

- Number of searches for a given period of time.

- Volume of indexed data in GB on which search is performed.

- Volume for delta index run in GB for given period of time.

What numbers should be entered ? Can it be loaded on the same host ?

Thank you.

Hi Anirudh,

You can always get the server sizing from SAP sizing tool http://service.sap.com/sizing . When it comes to Software you can check installation guides of Trex.

Hari.
