Is a license needed after each DI is installed?

We have installed a Java only DI for an old CI (java only as well).

Do we need to installed the same license for this new DI?

I dont think so. Please advise.

Hi C Z,

Given this scenario,

You have an existing BW system and you have added a Java system through Java Add-in using sapinst.

You will not need to install a new license. For upgrades, you will need to install a new one.

Our scenario is that we have a EP7 java only CI.

We have newly added a DI to it without any additional

license work.

However, we notice the EP7 gets frequent restarts

by itself. This behavior makes me think about the necessity

of license for the DI.

Why it restarts by itself?

Hi,

When a Java system has an expired templicense, it will randomly restart. I noticed the restart frequence was more than 2 per hour... with a starting duration of 15 mins...

To check if your license is ok, launch the visual admin

serverX -> Services -> Licensing Adapter
