How to handle originals in different languages

Former Member

I'm looking for best practices for handling documents in different languages.

We have the possibility of having originals that are translated into several languages. Some options are: different versions of the same document number, different parts of the same version, or entirely different document numbers. We are using a characteristic for language.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Dear Alan,

regarding your question I would recommend you weither to add several originals to one document info record and edit the description of the original so any user can see in which language this originals is written. I think this is the best alternative becaue then only one document info record needs to be created and there is no problem with 'validity' of document info record versions and so on.

So from my point of view I would recommend you to add each original to one document info record. So in the end this info record contains several originals which have the same content in differnt languages.

Best regards,

Christoph
