Dear forum,
We have an application server running on Win 2003 SP1 x64 server that was migrated from 32 bit to 64 bit long time ago. We found that SQL 2005 Native client is still x86 version.
Is it safe to update it to SQL 2005 Native client for x64 with the following steps:
- Stop app server.
- Uninstall SQL Native client 32 bit.
- Install SQL Native client 64 bit.
- Update to SQL Native client SP2.
- Start app server.
Any risk with installed application server? Lost DB connection or something?
Regards,
Agoes
Hi Agoes, it shouldn't be a problem doing that.
I hope this link works for you: http://www.charlotte-sql.org/files/Oct_16_Meeting_Rick_Heiges_64bit_Question.ppt
