Dear Team,
We have developed Applications using Web Dynpro Java. These
run beautifully on Internet Explorer 6. We are deploying these
applications on Safari 3.0 for Mac for our users. This browser is based
on the Firefox framwork and as per the Product Availability Matrix, Web
Dynpro's are supported for firefox. We tried the applications in
standalone Firefox browser separately, and they run fine. We also
intercepted and debugged the browser requests at run time and found
that the standard runtime code for these Web Dynpro applications is
assumimg the Safari browser as MSIE-MS Internet Explorer

We found a note "951053-Safari Browser mapped to
Firefox 1.x instead of IE6" which is for WD ABAP. Is there a parallel note for WD Java?
I know that SAP does not support Safari as a browser, but since it is
on the Firefox framework which is supported by SAP, the applications
should run correctly.
Any help and pointers are much appreciated. we can deploy simple Web Dynpro Java controls like a input field and button with a simple table if neccessary.
Please guide

Sanjay
Any thoughts regarding this issue please. Please guide so that we can find a way out of this situation. Thanks

I don't know where you read about Safari being "based" on Firefox but they run very differently, although Firefox is "closer" in how it runs than IE. Cameno is a Mac-based browser which is very similar to Firefox, but Safari isn't that similar.
Its long been a gripe of mine that SAP only support IE and Mozilla. You get the same issue with HTMLB, which a lot of BSP pages use.
The short answer is that WebDynPro won't work on Safari. End of story.
I work for a big publishing house and we have lots of users with Macs. We had to tell them that users can't use Safari. We weren't popular.
Sorry. I know thats not the answer you wanted to hear.
