How we can we check the status of the sales order?
How can we check the revenue postings for a sales order in VA02 or VA03?

Use document flow to see status of the sales order. You can find whether the sales order has been released to accounting or not.
In VA02 or VA03 go to Menu Environment -> Display document flow.
