Hi varun,

MDM id ,also known as Global ID is used in MDM to retain the system specific signifance of any data and are generaly used in Merger n Accquisitions or Data Migration from Number of source systems to a single target system.

When data comes in from a number of systems and consolidated in MDM data manager then upon consolidation the data is harmonised or sent back to the respective systems .During this process the data is assigned a Global id in MDM so that those duplicates can be recognized as one and can be reported centrally but simaltaneously transactions running on the local systems are not HAMPERED.

There is also a pdf .Please go thru this .I hope that will help u.

MDM ID : is the Auto ID field in the repository for a particular record.

if the auto ID field is there in Main table, you can able to syndicate, provided destination field should be there to map source fields.

hope this may help you.

Hi Varun,

Its like a two way handshaking.

MDM maintains "Remote Key" to maintain reference for any target system. But MDM ID is something which can be maintained within "Remote System" for there references.

So say for instance: You have syndicated a record with MDM ID "1" and Remote Key as "1234" , MDM will maintain this information in "Remote Key Mapping" as shown below:

MDM_ID | Remote_System | Remote_Key

1 | SYSTEM1 | 1234

Now this is a way MDM maintains references.

If you look from "Remote system" perspective , they will maintain this MDM_ID in there system for any search operations.

MDM_ID is a customized filed ,which you create in console and its type is AUTO ID so that it keeps incrementing every time when a new record is added into MDM.
