Hi ,

We will define the product catagories using transaction comm_hierarchy

then what is the use of transaction comm_prapplcat??

and one more small quary , if i will read any docc there they mention like define backendsyst and local systme.

What is the meaning of Local systme??? means our sap r/3 system other than EBP sytem..

Hi Viswanath,

1. The local system means the SRM system and the back end system means the R/3 system.

Both are regarded as logical systems. In case of stand alone scenario the local SRM system is the logical system and in case of Extended classic or classic scenario your back end system i.e R/3 system will become the logical system.

2. All the product categories and the product types replicated from the backend (R/3) can be seen using COMM_HIERARCHY under R3MATCLASS and you can also create local product categories.

3. COMM_PRAPPLCAT the table relavant for Purchasing needs to be populated with the R3PRODSTYP & R3MATCLASS.

Only then all the materials replicated or created in the local system will be available for purchasing.

The field gets automatically populated during the master data replication.
