emails through SAP R/3

Hi all,

We are using NW04 here. We have configured outgoing emails from SAP to outlook.

Emails are sent with workflow and if anyone applies email on EP. Mails are sent from R/3

SCOT is configured and job(RSCONN01) is schduled to run every 10 mins. And the job finishes successfully

There are 2 jobs for RSCONN01 with different variants.

Both gets finished succesfully but job logs show that they do not select anything to send.

So in T.code SOST it shows error as "Message cannot be transferred to node SMTP due to connection error"

Now when I resend request again from SOST and then If i manually run the job in T.code SCOT by clicking on "Start send process", the request is successfully sent.

But it is not sent automatically with the scheduled job.

Connection to exchange is OK because it is able to send request when i so it manually. And I am also able to telnet exchange from SAP server.

What can be the problem?

Is it possible because of 2 jobs assigned with different varinats?..... I saw both the variants and they are almost same.

So please help me in this.

Thanks

Tajinder.

Hi,

Do you have a multi instance (CI + several DI) system ?

Do the RSCONN01 job run on the same server as when you run SCOT ?

Do you have a firewall between your SAP servers and the SMTP relay ?

Does your SMTP relay accept connections depending frim IP address ?

Do you get error messages from the send mail job log ?

Lots of questions here !

Hi Olivier,

Yes we have multi instance (1 CI and two DI).

When I run the job from SCOT, I did not choose any server,

And I am logged in to CI, So it runs on CI.

And when it runs through scheduled background job, it runs on DI.

I tried to run it from SCOT by selecting that DI, and it was successful too.

But it is not going automaticually through background job

There is no firewall between SAP servers and SMTP.

Yes, We have included all SAP servers in the list at exchange server to accept requests.

In the send mail job log I get:-

Job started

Step 001 started (program RSCONN01, variant ZHR, user ID WF-BATCH)

Start send process SAPCONNECT INT SEND on server erpapp02 in client 500

End of send process SAPCONNECT INT SEND. Number of selected objects: 0

Job finished

So no error, It says number of selected objects as 0

what to look for here. Kindly help me in this.

Thanks

Hi again,

Your problem seems weird.

I was thinking it was depending from the SAP server the job was running on because I've already be bitten by that...

Did you check the authorization profile of user WF-BATCH ?

Check the differences between the variants from the scheduled job and the job launched from SCOT.

Hi Olivier,

Wf-batch has sap_all.

But the other point seems to be the problem.

The only difference between variants of background job and job through scot is the address type.

In background job, the address type is INT(internet mail). But through SCOT when i run I select it as ALL*.

So I guess there might be problem in the emails fields for users in SU01.

I will look about it and update about this.

Meanwhile If you find any hint, let me know.

Thanks
