Hi,

I atended into the SAP Memory Analyzer presentation on the TechDay and it seemed to be a Free Tool but When I go into the link to Download it it says that it has a 90 day License and that it can not be used in production, does somebody knows what happened?

Thanks in Advanced!!!

Kind Regards,

Gerardo J

Hi Gerardo,

unfortunately that is the only license we can currently offer for the download from SDN.

We are in the process of going open source (visit the [Eclipse Proposal|http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/memory-analyzer/]). The Eclipse project will include everything you would download now. Our intentions are clear, but our legal paperwork lags behind. Sorry.

For all those who can live with the license the [download link|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/uuid/8070021f-5af6-2910-5688-bde8f4fadf31 [original link is broken]].

Hi Andreas,

Thanks alot for the quick response, I have some questions that I did not post here, I´m willing to use the product but the license says 90 days and not for productive, how can we use the tool for a production environment? is there a license that SAP sells so this can not be used just for 90 days and not productive?

Thanks Again!!

Kind Regards,

Gerardo J

Hi Gerardo,

unfortunately there is no other license available.

I know it sounds stupid. We have no separate offering where you could buy the Memory Analyzer (it is, of course, part of CE). We want to make it open source. We want external users to use the Analyzer. But we have only this limiting license. I do not like it either. The only excuse contains the words "big company" and "legal" and "slow processes"...

Personally, I look forward to the open sourcing (maybe end of Q1) which will make this at least a little bit easier.

Thanks Adreas,

I´m downloading the 90 day license software, hopefuly if this goes Open Source in Q1 this days will do it :O) the only consern left is that it says that it is not for production systems, why is that?

Also I got the DVD for CE in the TechED to install it and test it, Can we use that to analyze productive heap dumps?

Thanks again!!

Kind Regards,

Gerardo J

Could you please suggest where can I download SAP enhancements for Memory Analyzer?

Link to it http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/Java/Download+the+SAP+Netweaver+enhancements+for+the+Eclipse+Me... is broken and I cannot find another place.

Or this tools is outdated and not needed now?

MAT has become official project on Eclipse.org, see "Eclipse Memory Analyzer Open Source Project".

Kind regards,

Yes, I am aware of this, but there is no link for SAP MA Enhancements on those site.

Or we can use MAT to analyze SAP AS dumps out-of-the-box and without any enhancements since it joined to Eclipse?

Hi Pavel,

you may either use the standalone version of MAT to analyze Heapdumps (Eclipse Memory Analyzer Open Source Project) or install Eclipse IDE, then Perspectives "SAP JVM Profiler" from SAP Service Marketplace ("Browse Catalog...">"SAP JVM Supportability Tools"...) and then Perspective "Memory Analyzer" from http://download.eclipse.org/mat/1.4/update-site/ to have some combined tool, see example screenshot from documentation of SAP JVM Profiler:.

Best regards,

Hakim
