How to create a copy of a existing track.

Hi,

We want to freeze the changes in the current Development Track, but would like to create a copy of this track to carry out development for next release.

Basically two tracks with same definition. For this I would like to create exact copy of current track (with same DCs and sources).

How could I do this.

Regards,

Ashish

Hi Ashish,

You can create a copy of an existing track by moving to "Track data" in CMS and clicking the "Save As" button from the current track(which you want to copy) and then just provide the "Track id" and "Track description". A new track will get created with the same definitions. and then for content copy you can simply forward the last assembled or approved SCAs from the old track to new track and then do the imports.

From then on you can do the development in your new track.

Brief description with regard to the use of "Transport Connections":

In case you want some changes made in new track to be reflected in your old track you may establish a "Repair connection" from new track to old track and also if you wish to continue development in old track as well and update your new track with the changes from old track then you can establish a "transport connection" from old track to new track.

Hope this helps.

You'll want to look at Track Connections:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/13/602b27f6fb41b4a9eb4f72eabb9832/frameset.htm

Basically, you create a new track for the same software component(s), and create a track connection from one track (the source) to the other (the destination). Import the code into the new track, and carry on development....
