SAP failed to start after database restored to a new machine

Former Member
0 Kudos

Hi,

We have a SAp BW 3.5 running on a SQL 2000, recently our server is degraded and become unstable to host our BW server.

So we build another box with the same OS and DB version and patches, ran sapinst from the SAP DVD, upgraded the kernel to the same level as our current setup.

SAP started Ok with the kernel upgraded, however when we restored the backup to it, if fails.

I have attached the developer trace log, and hope someone can give us some help on diagnosing the issues

aha, look here

C ExecuteAndFlush return code: 0x80040e14 Stmt: if user_name() != 'pbw' setuser 'pbw'

C sloledb.cpp ExecuteAndFlush,line 5886: Error/Message: (err 4604, sev 0), There is no such user or group 'pbw'.

did you used SAP note 151603 to restorer DB?

did you recreate the logins (note 551915 - for schema, 98678 for non schema DB)?

When you first installed BW 3.5 (Netweaver 2004) from scratch on to the new server, it worked fine. This is because the Java engine was set up correctly.

When you restore the old server's database on to the new hardware (effectively performing a Homogeneous System Copy) you will need to recreate the usernames / authorization groups to match the old server's users / groups.

In additon to the above, you will need to perform a Java Export from the old system and a Java Import to the new system, if you want your Java engine working properly. To do this, please follow the install guide named "Homogeneous and Heterogeneous System Copy for SAP Systems Based on SAP Web Application Server Java 6.40 SR 1".

Please let me know if this works for you and award the points as needed

Thanks.

Hi,

We have a similar problem.

We have a system R / 3 Enterprise Edition 47x200 running with Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

Copy the BD in another machine (server), then applied script note 551915 (user_restore.sql) and finally proceeded to install the central instance of SAP (sapinst) with existing database option, but it does not appear that the error attached:

Errors during EMP database check on produccion4; reported errors:

Error by Compatibility level check: Database EMP has wrong compatibility level

Error by Dbo objects check: Database EMP contains user objects belonging to system user dbo

; correct reported errors before continuing with the installation

hope someone can give us some help on diagnosing the issues, thaks.

Best regards,

Christian Astete.
