New to SCM !!

Ciao Evryone,

I am working on SAP for the last 2 years and recently got to hear about the SCM. I am very excited about learning and working on this wonderful domain.

So I request all the SCM consultants ..please tell me

1. what is SCM and what are its capabilities ?

2. What are the responsibilites of a SCM (SAP APO) consultant.

3. How can i learn SCM

Hello Snehal,

SCM stands for Supply Chain management. SCM is a part of R/3 as well as advance module like APO. Shipping & Transportation are activities in SD is an part of SCM from R/3 prospectus.

APO is grossly sub-divided into 4 parts, which are as under:

1. DP (Demand Planning)

2. GATP (Global ATP)

3. SNP (Supply Network Planning)

4. PPDS ( Production Planning & Distribution System)

Responsibilities of SCM Consultant is similar to consultants in other module & say if it is a support project, then to resolve the issues & if implementation then understanding & mapping the requirements which are possible to be mapped.

The best way to learn SCM is to take up a classroom training at SAP Authorized Training Center like Genovate or Seimens in India & do the certification.
