script is a legal document which is used for external business purposes.

smartform is also the same ,but it's a more user friendly for development and requires less programming.

You use SAP Smart Forms to create and maintain forms for mass printing in SAP Systems. As output medium SAP Smart Forms support a printer, a fax, e-mail, or the Internet (by using the generated XML output).

In addition to the tool, SAP delivers a selection of forms for central business processes. This includes forms in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) as well as in the applications SD, FI, and HR of the R/3 Release.

SAP Smart Forms offer the following advantages:

Creating and maintaining forms requiring half the time

Adapting forms without any programming knowledge due to entirely graphical user interface

Web Publishing using the generated XML output

Often there are instances where an output from a SAP program is required on a physical paper in a pre-designed format. Using normal ABAP code this is not possible. Instead SAP provides an object called SAPSCRIPT to generate such kind of documents which can contain logos, tables and other objects and which can look like pre-printed documents.

- Adapting forms (those provided by SAP or a custom one) without any programming knowledge due to entirely graphical user interface. Thus, a functional consultant without any programming knowledge can configure forms with data from an SAP System for the relevant business processes.

- Web publishing using the generated XML output.

SAPScripts:

SAPScript is used to print forms. It has many advantages over conventional reports.

In a report program, the programmer has less control over the formatting of the output. By using SAPScript, the programmer has more control to format the output so that the output form looks better. The programmer has more control mechanisms to format fonts, paragraphs, etc in SAPScript forms.

In addition to that, SAPScript forms can have graphic elements (e.g. company logo, bar code etc.) attached to it.

Forms can be event-triggered (e.g. Generating output as soon as the document is saved) using message control.
