Account group:

The account group is a classification feature of customer master records. The account group determines:

in which number range the customer account number should be created;

whether the number is assigned by the user or by the system (internal or external);

which specifications are necessary or possible in the master record(what are the fields to be maintained mandatorily, or it can be maintained as optional)

Customer group:

It is a kind of grouping which canbe used to group customers for pricing and generating statistics reports

you can create a condition type & condition records so that u can offer special price or discount to a particular customer groups.

Hi,

One of the key function of creating customer group is to bring about a change in totality of a particular customer group.

e.g. tax levied on the retail group.

if you have created customer group in retail you can bring about the effect of tax in totality to the retail group.

Since in practice an insert is not delivered to individual customers, but rather to customer groups, you can group your customers in customer groups and customer group hierarchies before executing insert planning.

You define the customer groups and customer group hierarchies in Customizing. In the function for grouping customers, you can assign your customers to groups by drag and drop (dragging the objects with the mouse).

While the customization path is already defined above

ACCOUNT GROUP:

Account groups determine which fields you can configure on the G/L master record.

The standard SAP require at least two account groups, one for balance sheet accounts and one of the profit and loss accounts.

OBD4 - Define Screen layout per account group (G/L Accounts)

Double click on the line items.

You can define the fields as Suppress, Requried Entry, Optional Entry or Display

After the definition, you can check it with FSP3 - Chart of Accounts display.

Hi

Account group is typical SAP technical term from customer master point of view. You use the account group to determine:

Number range interval for customer master whether the number is assigned internally by the system or externally by the user (type of number assignment)

whether it is a one-time account

which fields are ready for input or must be filled when creating and changing master records (field status)

You can have different account grp for sold to, ship to and other business partner depending on business requirement

*********************************************************************

Customer grp is used for distingushing different customer..like government customer, private customer, wholesaller etc...tcode to create is OVS9
